Knut Åsdam has made films that exasperate for a long time. They appear to be detached and alienated, with people performing endless fragments of theatrical gestures that is played out in an architectural framework characterised by dehumanized proportions. Communication falls short here, often in semi-finished or abandoned surroundings sometimes acting as mirrors for unresolved social aspirations. By showing the films in installations characterised by the same architectonic language, Åsdam tightens the intensity of the experience even more.
